This 9-week course will introduce you to the real power of Aromatherapy for health care. More than just 'nice smells', essential oils and hydrosols are powerful plant medicines that can heal and protect us on many levels.

The first two classes will introduce you to the tools and concepts of aromatic medicine, the distilled essential oils and hydrosols, and the principles of mind, body, spirit healing. Students will learn how the complex natural chemistry of plant products have direct effects on our health both through their physical interaction with the body and through the subtle but powerful sense of smell. We will look at the properties of 12 essential oils and synergies and you will learn the when, where, why, how and how much, of aromatherapy treatments.

Over the remaining weeks we will focus on seven of the body's systems; digestive; respiratory; skin; endocrine; nervous, circulatory and muscular, one system per class. For each, we will begin with a brief overview of the anatomy and its function before looking at the health issues and complaints most commonly faced. Treatment options and interactions with other body systems and the person as a whole will be a key focus of our discussions. Although this series is designed for the home user the information will provide a solid base for further study at advanced levels.

Questions will be answered at the middle and end of each evening. Students will have the option of purchasing an essential oil kit of the 12 single notes and synergies, 5ml size.
