About Suzanne
Suzanne grew up in a home where the importance of plants for healing and food was a normal part of life and the balance of nature and rhythm of the seasons. Organic gardening, waste re-use and reduction, alternative energy, propane vehicles and living off-the-grid were part of her family-life. This sustainable living led to alternative medicine some thirty+ years ago and since then a life long dedication to the gifts of Gaia. Suzanne spent sixteen years in the music industry, working for artists as diverse as Elton John and Metallica, Was Not Was and Def Leppard, Pulp and Dire Straits, and always in the background was Mother Nature and her wisdom. It was not until 1991 that Suzanne discovered essential oils and aromatherapy. “That changed everything, here were plant products that had a more profound impact on my entire being in one session than anything I had experienced before. I was completely hooked.”

Her interest in the clinical, phytotherapeutic use of essential oils led Suzanne to pursue the potential of aromatic waters. Her book, Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy (Healing Arts Press, Rochester VT, ISBN 0-89281-946-4. 352 pages, now in 5 languages) was the first written on the subject and helped turn a waste product into a prized global commodity that has helped farmers, distillers and end-users. “They seemed, to me, to be the homeopathic version of essential oils, no less profound in their healing abilities but less aromatically intense, more subtle in how they worked in and on the body. It also made sense that, as we talk continually in aromatherapy about the importance of using the purest, whole, unadulterated oils in order to access the true essence of the plant, that we must ultimately have both the oil and the hydrosol (the aqueous co-product of oil distillation) if we really want the whole plant essence and all its health benefits. Together the oils and the waters (hydrosols) give us a potent wholistic aromatherapy that has significant importance in maintaining and improving health.”
